Best Day Ever!!

Some pro tips as you prepare for you 1-Day Polar Bear Expedition

You did it! After searching, clicking, researching, dreaming, planning, and clicking some more, you finally decided to press the “Book my Expedition” button. Congrats, and thanks for choosing us!!  Here are a few things  to consider now that your trip is booked:

Wait? You’re doing what!?

For a lot of people, a trip to the arctic to see polar bears is a total “bucket list” trip.  But for some, learning that you can actually go to the Arctic is about as unbelievable as booking a trip to the moon. Canada is HUGE, so you can’t really blame people for not knowing just how accessible a trip to the Arctic has become. With that in mind, be prepared to answer a LOT of questions about Churchill, Polar Bears and your Expedition provider. (thanks again for choosing us!)

Humble brag time!

No biggie….you’re just casually embarking on an Expedition to the Arctic. And sorry to tell you, but since you’re departing from the executive terminal you won’t be able to confirm if the lines and hassles in the airport are getting any better.  Honestly, traveling by chartered private jet is not that big of a deal… ;)

Travel in style

The weather in Churchill will probably be chilly, its polar bear season after all. We suggest dressing in layers, and bringing along a backpack or duffle bag with some cold weather gear like mitts or gloves, a knit cap/toque and a scarf. Your Expedition will include all meals, but bringing along a reusable water bottle and a few snacks is never a bad idea.

Tech talk

Don't forget to bring your camera, lenses, extra batteries and memory cards. In case you wanted to upgrade your photography game, many major centers have camera shops that rent high quality cameras and lenses, and it could be a great option if you are looking to snap the perfect shot.  All that being said,  your cell phone camera is probably up to the task. Just remember,  there is no cell service in Churchill and roaming can quickly drain your battery. Make sure to turn your phone off of roaming to maximize your battery life. You also may want to consider bringing an external charging pack for your phone… battery anxiety solved!

Tipping and gratuities

The customs and expectations around tipping vary greatly from country to country and region to region.  There is NO expectation of tipping any staff at any point in your Expedition. The best tip you can give is to leave a positive review of your trip and tell your friends :)

And finally….Relax! We got you.
